A royal bike ride
It’s a treat to bike through the Horsten estate, where King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima used to live. The itinerary is easy: leave our yard, make a left and follow the canal for roughly 5 km. Take the Knip bridge and follow the bike signs to Wassenaar. The meadow landscape slowly gains more trees. You may see the tops of the estate chimneys sticking out of the woods.
Quite spectacular: museum Voorlinden
If you love contemporary art, museum Voorlinden will definitely be worth your while, permanently having artists like Cattelan, Mueck and Serra on display.
But the garden is a piece of art as well. Designed by Piet Oudolf, it forms the perfect lush adornment of the modernistic building amid wide lawns. Highly recommended in spring and summer. For current exhibitions, check the website of Voorlinden..
